Automatic garage doors - what are they?

Automatic garage doors are a simple and tidy look for any home. Especially with a number of different colours available and choice of steel or aluminum material. 

No door frame is needed which will give you extra width for the opening of the garage. The door rises vertically upwards and rolls onto a spindle in the roof space. 

You will also gain space as the door opens or closes unlike the ‘up and over’ doors where you need to leave room outside the front of the garage. 

Most of the time roller garage doors are quick and simple to install depending on the garage and surroundings. The operation of opening the roller garage door has limited noise making it quiet and smooth to operate. 

For good security and weather protection you can order a roller garage door with a seal all around the door but doors are available without the seal. Roller garage doors can either be made of aluminum or steel as mentioned above and are either single sheet or hinged slat. 

There are two versions of operation – manual or electric. The electric version normally has a key fob for operation from your vehicle or just coming out of your home to get to your car. Most roller garage doors have a manual override incase of any faults or power cuts. The override can be fitted inside the garage which is a good idea if you have another access point to the garage or you can get the External Manual Release/Electric Key Switch which is normally installed outside next to the garage.
