Sectional Garage Doors

Why do customers choose sectional garage doors?

Many customers presume all electric roller garage doors work in much the same way, however in reality there are two main types of  doors to choose from. When choosing your specification you will have a choice of either a standard electric roller garage door or a sectional door. A roller garage door is made up of small sections and is ''rolled'' around a cylinder or roller mounted above the garage doorway. An electric motor used to power the system will generally be integrated into the roller system.

Sectional garage doors work in a completely different way as a result of the doors construction. A sectional door is made up of a smaller number of larger sections used to construct the fabric of the door. Obviously this design would not allow it to be ''rolled'' and as a result this type of door retracts into the roof on steel runners mounted on either side of the garage where it is stored. The frame has a curved 90 degree bend at the top of the garage designed to allow just enough tolerance for section to fold into a vertical position. To power the system an electric motor is normally mounted at the rear of the mechanism positioned in the middle of the garage roof.

Many customers choose a sectional garage door as a cheaper alternative to a standard roller garage door whilst providing many of the same benefits such as remote control and excellent insulation.

On the negative side some owners have advised us that sectional doors can be more liable to sticking, however this can be prevented by using reputable manufactures, experienced installation engineers and completing all the recommended maintenance requirements such as lubrication of the door runners.
